Dornoch and Migdale

This is night No.49/2019 living in my caravan. It's the 2nd night we've been pitched at Davochfin Farm, a CL near Dornoch. Took the dogs out after I got up at an incredibly late 0730 (!!). Took them round Camore Wood next to the farm and noticed this marker on a post in the forest. There's a long, long way to go south from here! After breakfast, we headed east, past Skibo Castle, turned off the A949 at Spinningdale up to the Ledmore and Migdale Forest. I've walked here before as I have stayed at a CL on the far side of Loch Migdale and walked in from the west. It's a superb walking forest. A number of routes start here, and we opted for the longer 2hr loop. The path climbs steadily through the trees. It was a warm day, but fairly cloudy. As we gained height, we got a good view of Loch Migdale and the little settlements beyond, including Drumbhan where I stayed before. Balbair and Loch Migdale

This is night No.58/2018 touring in my caravan. This is my second night at Drumbhan CL near Bonar Bridge. Again, it was raining and fairly blustery last night. It was showery when I woke around 0600, but the forecast was for an improving day. It certainly did, but remained very windy throughout the day. Took the dogs along the roads near the house, which are very quiet, and after a shower and breakfast, I took them down the road (by car) to Balbair Forest, just on the outskirts of Bonar Bridge. Took the longer waymarked 'green' route, which is a great walk. Some nice ponds on the way up the hill. Hamish always does his best to find and carry the weirdest of sticks. After the walk, we returned to the van for a few hours reading and generally lazing around. In the afternnoon, headed along the direct single track road from here towards Spinningdale.
