This is night 22/2020 living in my caravan, and it's the third night at Fairgirth Farm near Dalbeattie. Yet another beautiful day. Not a cloud in the sky this afternoon and very warm After breakfast, headed 5 mins along the road just beyond Covend to walk through Mark Hill forest, a FC wood. Really pleasant circular walk. After the walk, took the 50min drive east to Annan to visit the Annandale Distillery. What a lovely place. I was really after their blended whisky, 'Nation of Scots' which received top scores in the whisky Bible. I was not disappointed. The distillery has a small shop and I got some. I was offered a dram, but I had to decline as I was driving! The distillery is just on the outskirts of Annan, so took the dogs a walk along the River Annan. Returned to the van via Dumfries and the coast road for some lunch. The weather is lovely so I'm not leaving ...

John Paul Jones Birthplace

This is night No 18/2020 living in the caravan. We're pitched at John Paul Jones Cottage, a CL near Kirkbean on the Solway Coast. A good 4 hrs to get here. Traffic was fine, being a Sunday, but it was very windy. Just as well I wasn't towing a big caravan! Quite a few improvements to the site since I was last here in September 2016. All the pitches are lined up, all with a clear view of the Solway firth. There is also mains power and free wi-fi. The price has increased from £10 to £15 to reflect this. There is also a toilet in the museum, which is left open for use overnight. Took a little look at the cottage and the grounds. First thing after setting up was to take the dogs a walk down the beach, a short walk from the site. Quite a few dog walkers around. Nearby Southerness and it's lighthouse. On the walk back, in the distance I could see the big house here, Arbigland. ...
