This is night No.12/2019 living in my caravan. Now at the Glencoe C&CC Site near Glencoe Village. I was keen to get away after the Easter Break. I try and avoid the busier times when touring, unless I go to CL's. I did manage to get a lot done during the 'down time' though. I sold my old trusty 320GT to a couple from Lilliesleaf, got fitted for and ordered a kilt for my daughters wedding, welcomed the arrival of a new grandson, and done a bit of puppy sitting! A busy few weeks! Glencoe fitted the bill for this first trip after Easter. I'm actually a direct descendant of the MacDonalds of Glencoe. My Great-Grandmother was a Glencoe MacDonald, probably born here around 1870. She went on to meet a Irishman and hence my family name, Gillespie. I've been to Glencoe hundreds of times. I had work business in Kinlochleven, passed through loads of times, and climbed all the high tops here whilst compleating my round of the Munros. I've stayed at this site a...

This is night No.103/2018 living in my caravan. Continuing for a second night at Bunree C&MC Site near Onich. Had an outstanding sleep, getting up around 0630 in the dark. That's probably the biggest thing you notice as you get nearer winter. It'll be better when the clocks go back on sunday. It was dry when I took the dogs just a short walk on the site, and after breakfast I took the 5 min drive to Inchree to walk the 'Wades Road Trail' in Glenrigh forest. A good walk, although a bit of a grunt for the first section up through the trees! It leads to a quarry in the forest before turning back downhill. Hamish, as usual, was more interested in finding a good stick. The track back down has great views south along the loch and the hills above Ballachullish. From here, took a drive into Fort William for fuel and a few supplies, then headed back to the van for lunch. It was a mix of light rain and drizzle and a fresh breeze, but still fine for get...

This is night No.102/2018 living in my caravan. Now pitched at Bunree C&MC Site, near Onich, around 8 miles south of Fort William. I haven't been on the West Coast since back in April. The crowds and the midges can make it miserable, so an autumn trip to the area seemed a good idea. It was a fine drive here, through Perth, Crieff, and through Glen Coe. A bit drizzly, but there was the odd bright spell. I have undertaken this trip fully prepared for rain! The site is fairly quiet, and I got a waterside pitch overlooking Loch Linnhe. After setting up, took the dogs across the road from the site (that is, the main A82), to Inchree. There are some good waymarked trails here which I've walked many times. I went round the 'Waterfall Trail'. Typical West Coast weather looking south. Returned to the site to complete the unpacking and I could here the 'thumping' of helicopters. Two Chinooks were flying low level up the loch. Impressive sight. ...
