Around Kintail

This is night No 5/2021 living in my caravan and it's my 5th and final night in Morvich C&MC in Kintail in the Scottish Highlands. I should really have been making my way home today, but I really wanted just one more day in this area. Fortunately, there was a pitch available. From Saturday onward, the site looks like is booked out. Strange really, as the independent sites I've passed locally look open, but empty? Possibly the easier booking system with the C&MC? Possibly marketing? Woke to another fine morning. Headed down to the river with the dogs around 0645. Spot the deer! After breakfast, we headed up for a walk around the forest above Inverinate. Saw a large blue beetle. Was probably around 25mm long. Next, headed up to Mam Ratagan for some pictures of the Five Sisters. We then went for a walk on the forest tracks below Mam Ratagan, and then headed to nearby Ard Hill. Got soaked here in the heavy showers. I'm sure this must be a fish farm tender on Loch Alsh...

First trip of 2021, Morvich C&MC Site.

This is the first trip of 2021, so that makes it 1/2021 living in my caravan. I was last out touring on the 7th of October last year, when I had a 4 night stay in Melrose. The restrictions started to tighten, and I decided just to 'throw in the towel' for that years touring. It was just becoming nothing more than hassle. We then entered a 'lockdown' of sorts on Boxing Day 2020 and 4 months later, we are now allowed to visit caravan sites. I've been waiting for this day for a long time. I don't think anybody forecast that we'd be stuck in the limbo for that length of time, and like many others, I'd used the down time to book sites using my best guess as to when we could tour again. This led to weekly cancellations and rescheduling as the dates emerged. So, I had been booked to tour from the beginning of March and ended up changing or cancelling around 7 trips. Roll on the 26th April 2021. I hitched up my Puck following it's winter layup and make ove...

Ratagan, Letterfearn and Totaig

Night No 12/2018. Second night at the Morvich C&MC Site in Kintail. Had another great sleep, and got up at around 0630 to some nice weather. It was a touch foggy, but the sun was making an attempt to break through. After taking the dogs along the River Croe, had some breakfast and headed to a walk I had done last year. It was from Letterfearn on the other bank of Loch Duich, past the ferryhouse at Totaig, and up to broch, Caisteal Grugaig. Its a great walk from the end of the very quiet single track road up the west bank of the loch. Letterfearn is a lovely little place. I remember this quirky little 'veranda' which is on the shore. The display box is full of 'pin up' postcards from all over the world, probably from the 70's. There is also a sort of outdoor settee, lounging area full of weirdness! Some really nice wee cottages scattered all along here. Nice views across the loch to Eilean Donan Castle. As we walked along,...
