Last night at Fairgirth Farm

Image
This is night No 23/2020 living in my caravan. It's our 4th and last night at Fairgirth Farm. Arose to a very cold, clear morning. Definitely a touch of frost, and it was a freezing early morning walk. Not a cloud in the sky. Started with a longer walk around nearby Mark Hill Wish I lived in this place! Right in the middle of the forest. After the walk, took the short drive into Kippford. Nice seaside place with loads of boats. Headed back to the caravan for lunch. A bit of a Greek Ploughman type thing! The afternoon has consisted of taking down the awning and walking the dogs from the site. A bit cooler this afternoon, but still very pleasant.

Around Fairgirth

This is night 21/2020 living in the caravan. This is our second night at Fairgirth Farm CL, near Dalbeattie. Woke to another fine day. Last night there was a cracking sunset. Seems this area is benefitting from the good weather of late. After breakfast, took the short drive to Rockcliffe to walk the short coastal walk. Minds me very much of Argyll. The path climbs to Nelson's Grave A good coastal wander, ending on what I think was a cattle field, although we didn't see any. From here, we drove 15mins to Castle Douglas where there is a Tesco. After lunch, took the dogs for a blast in the adjacent field, which they love, and later headed 5 mins north to walk Dalbeattie forest.

This is night No.28/2019 living in my caravan. It's my second night at Fairgirth Farm CL, near Dalbeattie in Dumfries and Galloway. After the early morning walk around the adjacent woods, breakfast, and an 'al fresco' shower, took the dogs for a walk down to the beach, around 1 mile away along a quiet road. Looking back at one of the farm houses at Fairgirth. Along the road, there is a loch which is really well kept. It's opposite this development at Barend. These chalets look like they've been here a long time and there are a lot of them. Very nice, but I'll bet they were/are timeshare properties. Some of the attractive flowers on the loch side. The beach at Sandyhill is very big with fine, golden sand. I could see a wind farm to the west, and another in the distance to the east, both offshore. Also a rather rare sight these days, salmon nets. As I walked along the coastal path, I could see down onto the nets. Strang...

Fairgirth Farm CL

This is night No 27/2019 living in my caravan. Now pitched at Fairgirth Farm CL, near Dalbeattie in Dumfries & Galloway. I have no phone signal, so this is just a short post, as I sit in the Dalbeattie Wood car park! Got up right late (!) AT 0630, and took the dogs along the riverside in Moffat. After breakfast, we headed for the short drive to Earshaig Lochans. What a cracking day for a walk. A pair of geese having a paddle. Very pretty. Another one of the lochans. Just a cracking start to the day, hardly a cloud in the sky.   Even spotted some Bull Rush. The water was teeming with tad poles. Haven't a clue what this small flower is, but looked nice. Left Moffat around 1030 for the 1 hr drive to Fairgirth. An idyllic spot with great views. Took the dogs into the woods next door, looking back at the farm. A great dog walking wood 2 mins from the van. And from the high spot in the wood, I could see the Solway Firth. ...
