This is night No.8/2019 living in my caravan. It's also my 3rd night at Yellowcraig C&MC Site near North Berwick. Got up around 0620 to grey, but dry weather. It had been very mild overnight and was very pleasant to take the dogs down the beach before breakfast and a shower. We went for another blast down the beach, then headed for a nearby woodland, about 15 mins away. The Woodland Trust is a great resource for finding woodland walks, and I chose Butterdean Wood near Gladsmuir. Never been here before. A nice mix of broadleaf and coniferous trees. Very quiet wood. Has a carpark and a couple of waymarked routes. A massive wood louse on a tree! Lots of quirky little touches. Thoroughly enjoyed this wood, and the weather was getting nice by this point. I've never visited the actual site of the Battle of Prestonpans, and with it being only 10mins from the woods, we took a detour to pay a visit. I have no idea what the 'authorities...

This is night No. 6/2019 living in my caravan. We're pitched up at the Yellowcraig C&MC Site near Dirleton, just outside North Berwick. I'm taking advantage of a 'Club' offer at the moment, where the pitches have a 50% discount midweek. The total for 3 nights (including me, the van, power, and the mutts) was £34.05. I had a voucher for £10, so my total was £24.05 for the 3 nights. Outstanding! Being Spring, after conferring with my brother, it was probably not the time to embark on a huge tour, so a good option would be Yellowcraig for a few nights, and take it from there. I've been here many times in my camper vans, my Puck, and this Familia. I was last here 14th Oct 2018. It's a lovely site, right next to a stunning beach, and only 2.5 hours from home. The weather was very mild. This pair desperate to get out for a blast. After checking in, we took a walk down to the rather fine beach at Yellowcraig. It was lovely. Felt like June rather th...

This is night No 101/2018 living in my caravan. It's my 3rd and final night at Yellowcraig C&MC Site near Dirleton. Got up around 0700, and took the dogs for a quick walk at the Yellowcraig Plantation. It was still quite dark, but it was dry and the only other person I spotted was another dog walker, with a torch, and a yapping little terrier which he was having no luck in calling back. After the morning routines, I decided to take the dogs the coastal walk from here to North Berwick. It involves walking through the woods, then onto the beach for a few miles into North Berwick, then returning by the John Muir Way. I walked it many times before. The stretch of good forest. On the approach to North Berwick, again, fine views of the Law. I zoomed in to see if I could pick out the (replica) whale jawbone at the summit. Great views to the spectacular Bass Rock, just offshore. After lunch, I took the dogs for another good coastal walk. On the OS Map, I spotted...

100th Night Touring!

This is night No. 100(!)/2018 living in my caravan, and we're on our second night at the Yellowcraig C&MC Site near Dirleton not far from North Berwick. Well, it took a while to get here, but I have hit the target of 100 nights living in my caravan this year, and I started late. My first night of the year was 21st March and it was also the first night I'd been away in this caravan, my Eriba 320GT. That first night was at Silverbank in Banchory. My target was really just to beat last years total of 52 nights, but once I started staying away and realising the benefits of the car and caravan combo, there was no stopping. I was helped by a great Spring and Summer, but I was also hindered with 6 weeks out due to some old idiot from Dundee 'ramming' my van! Some of the stats so far this year: Nights in Scotland: 81 Nights in England: 19 Nights on Caravan and Camping Club Sites: 10 Nights on Caravan & Motorhome Club Sites: 68 Nights on Certified Location...
