Fraserburgh to Culloden
This is night No.53/2018 staying in my caravan. I'm now at Culloden Moor C&MC Site near Inverness. 2 nights for £29 for me, the van, and the mutts (free).
I had been 3 nights away without 'services' on a CL, and I needed to catch up on laundry and get a shower. Culloden is the nearest C&MC Site, there aren't really a lot of choices between Fraserburgh and here. Gives me a chance to add a plaque to the collection!
Last night was quite busy. The farmer drove across to me around 1900 and asked if I wanted to come over to his other shed and see more of his tractor collection. Absolutely fascinating.
A mint grey fergie, absolutely unmarked.
An equally stunning Fordson.
This was a rarer and older Fordson. I think it was 1934, it was in a trailer having been to a show. An unusual green colour.
The workshop is the ultimate 'man cave'.
I finally got back to my van at around 2230! What a great way to spend an evening.
This morning after breakfast and walking the dogs, we headed to Aberdour Beach. The short cut across country is only about 4 miles. A few caravans (!) and campervans had descended on the bay.
After a long chat with the farmer, for about 2 hours!, I finally left the CL at around 1130. An uneventful 2 hr drive along the A98 then the A96, arriving here about 1400. Ive been here many times, and there is a very handy forest direct from the site.
It was showery.
After feeding the dogs and connecting the van proper, headed into Culloden Village for a walk round the excellent forest. No pictures as it was continuous rain and I got soaked! The forecast for tomorrow does look better, in fact it looks fair for a good while.

Reads like a great evening (and morning?) discussing tractors. Bet the old farmer enjoyed sharing his wisdom too. Nice to understand that you'll be smelling a bit better from now on as you mix with the yoekils and teuchters up there. Saturday was soaking wet in Edzell too so you never missed anything.
ReplyDeleteAberdour? I take it there’s more than one! Xx
