Reflections on my trip to Foyers, February 2019

My daughter pointed out to me that (when going by my posts) she can never really tell when my trips have ended and I have returned home. It's a reasonable observation, and for that reason I'm going to attempt to give a bit of a summary of the trips I do, or a 'reflection' on where I've been once I've returned home.

I would rate this most recent trip to Foyers as 'excellent'. The weather was excellent, walking was great, and the area is as good as I remember it.

The highlights? The walking is excellent straight from the site. I found a new route which I followed twice, that being the walk through the Mains of Foyers, through the forest, into Upper Foyers, and back to the site down past the Falls. I also walked many times in one of my favourite forests, Inverfarigaig. The weather was also superb, very mild for February and the first time in many years that I've toured so early. The site was also superb, and had a great welcome from Donald and his wife, Lyn.

Lowlights? Being the first trip of the year, I forgot some critical kit. I forgot my bedding, T bags, olive oil, pepper, and basil! Probably cost me some extra cash buying unnecessary items I don't need.

What would I do different? I should have brought more clothing. I don't mind using the laundry, but at around £8 a load? I should probably have brought more 'throws' to cover my new seating. As well as protecting the new seat covers, I now can appreciate their flexibility as blankets, makeshift cushion, dog bed, etc.

Overall, I loved it at Foyers and will return in the future, absolutely. One of my favourite sites. Some of my favourite photos....
