Kinlochewe

This is night No.9/2021 living in my caravan. We are now pitched at Kinlochewe C&MC Site in Wester Ross.

This is a great site. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it remained closed for the entire season in 2020. I last visited here in April 2018, over 3 years ago! It's located on the NC500 route and the area has got a lot busier over the last few years. The petrol station and adjacent cafe seem to be thriving, even during this pandemic.

Slept great last night, and after breakfast of eggs and a bagel, we headed for a good runaround on the 'Secret Beach' down the road, then back to the van to pack everything away. It was a lovely morning, like yesterday when I had used a break in the weather to pack away the awning which was more or less dry. The first thing I done here at Kinlochewe was to erect the awning, and just as well I did as it's already raining!

We left Nairn to around 0930 for a leisurely bimble up the road to Kinlochewe. The journey was predicted to take around 90mins, but we stretched it out, arriving just after midday.

First stopped not far from Garve where I attempted to get a few aerial photos. Unfortunately, it was too windy and the drone warned me that it was a bit dodgy with a risk of a 'fly away'.

Further along, stopped at Loch a Chuillin for a picture.

Then again just past Achnasheen, overlooking Loch a Chroisg.

Had to stop and take in the incredible view to the distant Loch Maree for the Glen Docherty viewpoint.

And of course, the obligatory caravan photo.

Some of the higher tops had a good covering of snow, this is Beinn Eighe.

Took the dogs for a short wander on the NNR, looking back at the site and my caravan.

Should be a great few days, with varied weather.

The rain really started around 4pm. Took the dogs out into the NNR and around the 'Eagle Trail'.

It was a fine walk, but we got drenched!

Never done it before, but made some baked potatoes in the Remoska. I had 2 as they were small potatoes. Filled with Onion and Chive Cottage Cheese, they were absolutely perfect and delicious!
