This post is about my most recent trip, a 4 nights foray into Argyll, staying at the Oban C&CC site at Barcaldine which is not far from Benderloch on the Oban to Fort William Road. It takes my total for nights in my caravan to 60 for this year.  I had booked this trip a while back, and as the date approached I was really apprehensive due to the weather forecast. I was proved correct! Very little in the way of sunshine and occasional torrential showers, especially overnight. Quite a large chunk of the site was under a few inches of water.  Despite the weather, it was actually a rewarding trip. I prepared for the rain taking extra waterproofs, boots, and towels to dry off the dogs. The rain made walking in the forest next door actually very nice.   This post is a record of my most recent trip, a three night trip to the Nairn C&CC Site which is located at Delnies Wood, just outside Nairn itself. The site itself a bit shabby, but it's cheap, normally has some availability and is an excellent spot for exploring the surrounding area. I stayed here from Monday, the 19th September until Thursday the 22nd. I've been to this site dozens of times over the years in both camper vans and caravans. A few years ago, the site facility block suffered what I think was a collapsed roof and as a 'temporary' measure, a pair of Portakabin toilet units were placed on the site. These units are still there and the original facility block is virtually derelict. It is an eyesore, and the remainder of the site really is poorly maintained.  This is a record of my most recent trip in my caravan, a jaunt north west from home to a site just outside the small village of Archiestown in Speyside. The site I stayed is a Camping and Caravanning Club site which a named 'Speyside by Craigellachie'. Craigellachie is the nearest 'significant' town near the site. I've been on this site many times, most recently in June this year. The site was very quiet, I'd say even quieter than normal. A few sites I've been to this year have been quiet, possibly fuel cost? Or people taking the opportunity to travel abroad? Or maybe the cost of living? Interestingly, there was a camper in a very small 1 or 2 man tent near the site entrance. This camper and tent has been here since I was last here in June! It was obvious by the grass that he had moved his tiny tent a few times in the same area, probably to protect the grass.
